Rooms all put together.

Given more time, I know for sure we could have improved this dramatically We ended up taking still renders from cameras in Maya and using After Effects to put in a camera effect. We all attempted a batch render from an animated camera in Maya and we all left it over night to render but none or our rooms using this method, had even half rendered in the morning of hand-in. Even rendering one still at double the size to allow for a scale in for the cheated camera effect took it's time so we only really got about a solid hour using after effects and trying to re-learn it! Overall I feel it went pretty well and I enjoyed doing the project.

(un)Finished renders.

There are some errors and tweaks I would have loved to have corrected before the final renders but time simply ran. Getting the Mirror to reflect like a Mirror in the lounge was hard as it either seemed too bright or not bright enough but I got there in the end with a Fresnel shader. Somewhere between my rough renders and final ones, Jamie's glasses on the table decided to go from looking like glass to looking like a mirror or like they were made from metal yet the display cabinet doors which are the same shader, behave like glass. The image outside the window from the rough render is still there but somehow looks like it disappeared and that there's only a black background. I would have fixed this problem by lighting the plane with the background image.

I feel the study was less successful than the lounge mainly due to the lighting, it reminds me of someone who has just discovered the dodge and burn tool in Photoshop! The lights in the wall lamps also do not look like they come from the lamps ad rather just parts of the wall are glowing I would try and fix this by using a different light than a point light and maybe make the model have a fain glow colour. I also had some trouble with the occlusion of this room as every time I tried to ender it out, it went either completely black or a very dark grey and grainy.

Study Models

Models of Objects in the Lounge just minus the Peacock feather which I made for Harry's Ball Room to tie in with his Mrs.Peacock room. The purple feather started as a quill and the feather was put next to the clues in the room. Many of the objects in this room have a purpley colour as our group thought this would be the most appropriate room to symbolize Professor Plum. All the objects seem low poly which is good as that's what were were aiming for expect the chair and Sofa. I also made a table for this room that you don't see in any of the final renders. The blood splatter on the book Jamie made and it looks very good sat next to the potential murder weapon, the lead pipe.

Lounge Models

Some views if the objects I modelled for the lounge. I made some of them too high poly as when it came to rendering, it took longer than desired. Next time I think I will manually insert geometry or I will use edge loops instead of just pressing Mesh>Smooth. The table top pattern idea came from a paper doily which worked out better than expected. The cigarette case has the roses on it just like the fireplace to try and give the idea that this is a Miss Scarlet themed room without it being too obvious. Harry drew the S on the case as my handwriting is terrible.

Render Test

The Occlusion passes, shadows and the lighting I am struggling to get right at the moment but hopfully this can be resolved. The shadows end up being too dark and the lighting isn't bright enough to convay lights and in the occlusion pass it ends up being black.

What's on the desk?

I UV mapped the quill feather and the pipe yesterday along with a table that you can't see in this render. I wanted to make the feather tie in with Professor Plum so I added the purple to it.
